Adelaide

In some ways, Adelaide’s best suburbs encapsulate what is so special about the South Australian capital, says local agent Karen Dorman from Harris Real Estate.

With “great beachfront character and amenities”, Glenelg East has a “wonderful community feel” that is quintessentially Adelaide, Ms Dorman claimed.

The “retained” suburb, which has an average house price of AUD1.2 million, is known for its quarter-acre plots, on which are a mix of elegant heritage homes, including “traditional Tudors and Art Deco”, along with more modern builds, she said.

Located 9km southwest of the CBD, and just minutes from the golden sands of famous Glenelg Beach, the suburb is “just enough to escape the hustle and bustle… but close enough to still be in the thick of things”.

Residents benefit from direct tram access into the CBD, making it an extremely convenient place to live.

“We are seeing a lot of families moving into the area for school and lifestyle reasons,” Ms Dorman said. “Everyone seems to know each other, which is lovely.”
