A new lifestyle destination in Sydney’s west promises a harbour, public lake, beach and waterside dining, close to Western Sydney International Airport.
Western Sydney Lakes (formerly Penrith Lakes) is being transformed to meet the growing recreational needs of western Sydneysiders.
“Western Sydney Lakes is entering its next phase of innovation and will transform into a major tourism and leisure destination that will be loved locally,” Jacqueline Vozzo, Western Sydney Lakes CEO

“This will not only be Western Sydney’s playground, but one of the country’s truly iconic attractions, combining the best that a coastal harbor and beachfront in the heart of Western Sydney has to offer.”
Central to the vision for Western Sydney Lakes is the proposed Lakehouse – an iconic two-storey space surrounded by a dock, boardwalk and “lake run”, providing a safe swimming space for all.
The area is already home to Penrith Whitewater Stadium and the Sydney International Sailing Center, which opened for the 2000 Sydney Olympics
The new development plans also include expanding the Great River Walk and building a 20km walking and cycling trail, with training and racing opportunities for cycling and triathlon clubs.

There is also a proposed Production Park, which would include film and television studios, production stages, filming pools, construction and design facilities, a film school, as well as an 18-hole golf course and helipad.
The precinct is five times the size of Centennial Parklands and a NSW government press release said the precinct would contribute “5000 potential direct jobs and almost 10,000 indirect jobs”.
“This area provides fresh air for people to play, work, relax and visit, with access to fresh water everywhere,” Ms. Vosso said.

“This area has the potential to provide a variety of destinations providing significant regional open space supported and enhanced by sustainable mixed-use urban development.”
