PERTH

Spanning more than 150 kilometers of coastline, Western Australia’s capital is known for its urban sprawl.

But one of its most sought-after areas can be explored entirely on foot, says real estate agent Claude Iaconi from Edison Property Residential.

“In North Perth, you’re not car dependent,” Mr Iaconi said. “There’s so much to do and see and eat, and so many lifestyle destinations are basically within walking distance.”

Located 3km north of the CBD, he describes North Perth as a “little slice of Melbourne in Perth”, with a vibrant cafe scene and stunning character houses built in the early 20th century. The suburb’s average house price is $1.16 million.

Despite its close proximity to the city centre, North Perth is “dotted with parkland”, such as Smiths Lake Reserve, and has a number of sports facilities, making it desirable for families and weight-loss seekers alike.

“The perception of Perth in general is of a big, shiny city, a car city, but more and more people are migrating to North Perth to be closer to the CBD,” he said.
